How long can I surf on the Internet?
Users can select from the price tariff minute-based, short-term, long-term,
group rates that for them are the most economical solution depending on desired
access time period.
Access time periods for short-term accesses are 30 or 120 min. The access time
periods for long-term accesses are available for 1 day, 2-5 days, 1 week, 2 weeks
and 1 month. Group rates for conferences, project teams, and travel groups are
available for daily and weekly access, minute-based access and in minute cycles.
The access time period for VIRAAT short-term access begins with the first log-in

Q.20
|
How do I log-out??
After successful log-in, a small pop-up window with a log-out button appears,
regardless of the billing option selected. Please do not close this window
(it can be minimized at any time). In order to log out, simply press the log-out
button.
If you accidentally close the window, you can enter, the URL https://wireless.viraatwireless.com/status. This will automatically log you out.
VIRAAT recommends that you properly log out because otherwise access for additional minutes
(idle timeout) remains open. This idle timeout can result in the following inconveniences for you:
- When billing via VIRAAT minute-based access (minute cycle), cell phone billing (in 30 min cycle)
and Excilan "Pay By Mobile Phone" (in minute cycle), this can lead to the undesired billing of additional intervals.
- During this time you cannot log in to a different terminal (Internet terminal, notebook, PDA).
- The subsequent user can continue to use access at publicly accessible PCs.
- If programs that maintain the Internet connection are active in the background, you will not be logged out at all.
Please note that on the terminals (particularly important for publicly accessible PCs) no pop-up blocker is activated for the VIRAAT portal page.
Otherwise, the pop-up window is generally blocked and proper log-out is therefore only possible by means of the above-mentioned URL.

please go to the reception desk
of your hotel / information desk at the VIRAAT.
- Billing via credit card is done after confirmation of payment, regardless of the access time period.

Access to Company Network
|
|
|
|
|
Q.25
|
Can I securely
access my company network with VIRAAT WiFi?
VIRAAT HotSpots are optimized for the use of marketable VPN solutions (Virtual
Private Network), which support NAT Traversal (NAT-T) on the client and server
side. Therefore, you can also access your company network in order to call up
your mail or company data. The prerequisite is that your company have a VPN and
the company’s own VPN software be installed on your notebook.

| | |
Q.26
|
How does access
to the company Internet function?
If you select from one
VIRAAT HotSpot from your company network, first log in as described using the
access and billing option you want. Afterwards, minimize your browser and start
the VPN software of your company.
| |
Top | | | |
Q.27
|
What might the
problem be if I cannot access the company network?
It depends on how your IT department has configured your computer.
Please note that no VPN connection can be established if your company uses the same IP range as
your current location. Please contact your system administrator and if you face such problem. |

| Q.28
|
How secure is VIRAAT WiFi ?
VIRAAT HotSpots offer the greatest possible security that is feasible for unlimited
access to the Internet:
All credentials and log-in information, including credit card information, are protected by means of 128
Bit-SSL-encryption.
The internal user isolation via VLAN (Virtual Local Area Network) prevents users from being able to reciprocally
access their notebooks at particularly frequented locations.
VIRAAT HotSpots also have HotSpot firewalls. Unauthorized access from the outside is also prohibited.
In order to enable users to have unlimited access to the Internet, Internet services are not filtered.
However, pages with discriminating content or content dangerous for young people can be blocked off due
to regional legislation.
In order to ensure secure transmission of your data and to protect your PC completely from outside hackers,
VIRAAT recommends using current anti-virus software, personal firewalls and VPN solutions.
VIRAAT HotSpots are optimized for the use of marketable VPN solutions (Virtual Private Network) that support
NAT Traversal (NAT-T) on the client and server side.
As a standard solution for national or international companies with high travel activities, VIRAAT recommends
the VIRAAT Global
Connectivity access with integration to internal company anti-virus, VPN and firewall
software – the “Dialer, Controller and Protector Solution“ in one.

|
| Q.29
|
How is it ensured that third parties do not use my cell phone or credit card number
without authorization?
All credentials and log-in information, including credit card information, are
protected using 128 Bit-SSL encryption.
In case of payment using a credit card, VIRAAT urgently advises you to deactivate the browser’s auto complete
during the payment transaction (e.g. in Internet Explorer under Tools-> Internet options -> Content -> Auto
complete -> remove all checks) and to subsequently delete the browser’s cache
(especially if using PCs
accessible to the public).
In order to ensure that no third party is using WiFi at your expense by misusing your cell phone number,
o2 and Vodafone will send to you via SMS on your cell phone a one-time password for each new use.
For security reasons, these credentials from the SMS become void if they haven’t been used after about
fifteen minutes without charges. This ensures that only the users of the cell phone have received the
credentials and can use it. New credentials can be requested again at any time.
With Excilan "Pay By Mobile Phone", you will receive a call with the credentials on your cell phone.

| Q.30
|
What care I should take while using WiFi on publicly accessible computers?
For online payment on credit card, first users should deactivate their browsers'
Auto Complete during the payment transaction (e.g. in Internet Explorer under Tools -> Internet
options -> Contents -> Auto complete -> Remove all checks) and subsequently delete the browser’s cache
(especially if using PCs accessible to the public). In addition, note that when saving
credentials using a text file, don't leave them on the computer.,
After successful log-in, a small pop-up window with a log-out button appears regardless of the billing option
selected. Please do not close this window (it can be minimized at any time). In order to log out, simply press
the log-out button.
If you accidentally close the window, you can enter, as an alternative, the URL
http://wireless.viraatwireless.com/status and this automatically logs you out.

| Q.31
|
Are the emissions on the hotspot dangerous?
According to current research results, emissions from WiFi are not dangerous.
The transmission output of the WiFi adapter is a maximum of 100 mW. In comparison: The transmitter on the Berlin Alexanderplatz
TV tower emits 200kW, a cell phone base station emits 20 W, a cell phone 2 W, a microwave functions at 1 kW and
may, according to CE regulations, emit up to 1 W of energy to the outside.
The European Norm EN 60601-1-2 defines the requirements and tests that are specifically relevant for the
electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) of devices for use in the medical environment. Compared to GSM, GPRS and
UMTS, WiFi adapters emit up to 100 mW maximum energy and can be used in the most sensitive areas such as hospitals.
